London was great! Cold, but great. I saw more of Central London this trip than I've ever seen before.
I didn't get as many stills as I wanted but I have one or two that I will post as I bring you all up to date.

We're shooting Prince Kwame's music video for London Sound all around London. I'm still on California time which works out because we start shooting early in the morning and stop around 6a.m. Today, after we got back to our lodgings around 8 a.m. I ate breakfast (dinner?), organized our gear for tomorrow and then went to bed and slept until around 4p.m.
We started shooting at about 3:30a.m. and finished around 6:30. Tonight we'll work longer but this morning was good. We're getting a better feel for what is going on and Prince Kwame is warming up - which isn't easy since the temperatures are around freezing. Actually, it seemed colder earlier in the morning around midnight or 1 a.m.
It's colder tonight so I expect it will be colder when we start again early this morning.
I'm trying to stay warm as you can see from this picture taken on Carnaby Street.

Arrived mid day on December 25. I've never seen Heathrow airport so quiet. Had a pleasant chat with the customs official - he was thinking about his children and mentioned that they would be glad when he got home. He was expecting to get off early. As we spoke about it another official came by and told him that when he was finished with us he could go. Fastest trip through customs that we've ever had!
Some poor guy the next officer over was really getting the once over.
It's a little after 11:30 pm here and I'm getting ready for our first night's shoot for London Sound.
Everyone tells us how mild the winter has been here this year, and during the day it was crisp but nice. Now that night is well upon us I am glad that I have layers and layers of everything.
If I get still pictures and can post them I will put something up from tonight.

The London music video shoot is getting closer. Prince Kwame left today for London and I'm leaving next week. We have our locations picked and I just emailed my equipment list over.
For those of you who have been interested in doing editing and animation with us I am posting a pre-release work version of the song that we will work with on the shoot in London - the title is "London Sound."
The fully Mastered version is completed and will be available soon.
Take a listen and let me know if you have ideas for us while I'm in London and let us know how the music feels to you!
The Lawrence Lynn tracks will be available for sale on most sites soon - it's already showing up on several sites - I'll let you know when it's fully released and put up a button. We are in Post Production with his music video.

I am producing a series of low and no budget Music Videos for several Independent musicians whose music we are breaking through Internet Viral Marketing. Raw footage is mini-dv AVI files that can FTP'd for delivery.
We are making these files available to editors and animators who will work on them for credit for the editing and animating. Wildly creative beginners to masters are welcome to participate.
Only the music tracks cannot be altered.
Everything else is up to the imagination and ability of the
editors/animators.
You do not even have to use our video if you want
to do something different
We are interested in experimental, artistic, non traditional work that expresses your interests and signature look - quickly put together and highly original - things the typical paying client would not pay for but that you would really like to see featured -
If you are interested or know someone who
is interested in participating please contact me at
cmw1234atpacbelldotnet.
You must certify that you have all the rights to anything that you create or use in your version of the video.
All videos that we use will be promoted aggressively across the Internet universe with creator's names prominently featured and credits attached.
We have raw video ready for editing and are scheduling a shoot in London between Christmas and New Years day with a Los Angeles based musician who is Ghanaian and grew up in London.

The NYTimes reports that Atlantic Records is the first major label where
digital sales are greater than physical CD sales.
Atlantic Records president, Julie
Greenwald talks about Pre-Internet days( see Collapse of Debt.com) when they spent money so
freely - “In the pre-Internet days, said Ms. Greenwald, “we were
so flush, we did everything in the name of promotion.”
The article reports that Atlantic has
the highest market share and is the first to hit over 50% of its
sales as digital downloads.
Everyone still asks the question about
the loss of sales because the decline in CD sales is larger than the
increase in digital downloads. This question is being answered but
not by traditional statistics. At some point someone is going to add up
all the Independent music that is being sold as digital downloads but
not reported to any central compiler.
At this time, the music
industry, the new music industry, that is, the post - Internet music
industry could already be larger than anyone suspects or wants to
say.
No one is counting all those artists who have learned that they can incredibly improve their incomes and life styles by selling a few thousand digital downloads and retaining most of the money rather than letting the Big label keep most of it.
You can read the entire NYTimes article
here.

Early this month we shot video for a music video for one of our new clients. Its in post production and will be completed in a few weeks. This shoot was interesting - the word was, "what we don't have in budget we will make up with creativity." That is exactly what is happening. We used two very small cameras, one smaller than anything that I've ever used - the video will work perfectly for the kind of look that we want.
Last week another great development. We have a group of animators who want to do several versions of this video and future videos that we work on. I'll have more on that as we get the details worked out.
Finally, I'm scheduling another shoot for a music video in London. I will probably go over late in December. The music for this one is still being produced but should be completed in the next week.
Once an artist or band commits to us we do what we have to do to get everything done. Actually, its a lot of fun - defying the odds and using whatever tools are available to us.

Last month I accepted the fact that I just lost over $500,000 selling digital music and books for another company. I took their site from only thinking about selling physical CD's into the Internet Age – and finally showed them that we needed to go digital and showed them how. Instead of taking my pay out of the company I left it in to help fuel our constant need for growth and change. Several times the Founder came very close to making deals with larger companies that would have made us all multi millionaires. I kept pushing the sites forward, he kept working the deals. Suddenly, early this year, he died. Dropped dead in an instant while talking on the phone. His widow called and asked for my help to keep it going. We found so many loose ends that it is taking her months to sort them out. The sites are at a standstill. I can see now that I am never going to get paid by them.
I have one pressing need right now. How do I at least get my $500 - $600K back out? The answer is simple. Instead of working for other companies I work directly with you.
I get calls from all over the world from artists and site owners asking my advice and asking me to handle their music and books. I usually answer questions for free and help as I can – there are lots of great people out there but I did not see how I could work with individual artists, bands or writers and handle the work that I was already doing.
Now that's all changed.

I talk with music people and writers from all over the world who want to know how they can make the Internet work for them. I've tried to answer as many of their questions as possible because I understand their confusion. I always explained that I work with companies, not individuals, because of the scale of what I do.
Many of these artists follow up on what I tell them and then come back and want to know what to do next. They always want to know if I will make an exception and work directly with them.
I finally sat down and worked out a program that meets the needs of individual artists. The first are signed on and we are developing their campaigns now.
The difficult part was understanding how to keep the upfront costs low for the individual. I got that worked out and we pick up individuals and work with them comprehensively for as little as $50.00 per month. What makes it possible is the concept of setting them up individually but also using the leverage of all of their campaigns to make all of them more visible.
One of the studio engineers asks me every day about doing some kind of advertising, which we will do - but I keep telling him that so far, everyone who has wanted to work with me is finding out that I have the new program so my big challenge at the moment is to get them signed on and set up.
I'm excited about our Viral Marketing project for individual artists - I know that we will represent a lot of Really Great New Talent - new to the public that is - and we are going to break an amazing number of them entirely through the Internet where they will become big stars!
